Shri Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Bhagwan Shiva. To reach most of the temples one has to climb stairs but to reach Shri Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga temple one has to descend around 200 steps.

Nandi Maharaj and Kachhap Dev are seated in front of the sanctum of the temple. On the left side at the entrance of the temple is the murti of Bhagwan Ganesh and on the right is the murti of Bhagwan Kalabhairav, the protector of the Bhagwan. The Shivling has a vertical hole. It has two parts, Shiva on one side and Shakti on the other. There is a murti of Devi Parvati on the front side of the temple.

There is a murti of Bhagwan Krishna on the south wall of the temple. In the west is the murti of Hanuman and in the north is the murti of Sri Mahishasur Mardini. There is a temple of Shani in front of the hall. There is a stone lamp Shikha near Shani temple. There are murtis of Rishi Muni on the walls of the temple.

The temple was renovated in 1212. The assembly hall in front of the temple was completed in 1962. The tradition of worshiping Bhimashankar by Marathi rulers dates back to the time of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Shikhar of this beautiful temple was built by Nana Fadnavis in the 18th century.

Religious and recreational places like Shri Ram Temple, Gupt Bhimashankar, Shri Hanuman Temple, Bhima River Origin, Bombay Point, Hawthorn Point can also be enjoyed around Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga. Devotees who enjoy trekking are advised to avoid it during monsoons. But on the contrary, the monsoon is the best time to enjoy the scenic view.

A bus is arranged every half an hour to reach Bhimashankar from the nearest town Manchar. In the evening the last bus leaves at 7 o'clock, this timing of the bus can also be changed according to the local arrangements. Shri Bhimashankar Temple is located at a distance of 1 km from the Bus Stand.
