Mankameshwar Mandir is one of the most ancient and revered temples of Bhagwan Shiva, located near Agra Fort and Jama Masjid in the old city area of Agra Uttar Pradesh. Inside temple Bhagwan Shiva, worshipped in the form of a sacred Shivlinga. Devotees believe that sincere prayers offered here help in fulfilling wishes, solving problems, and bringing peace.
Mankameshwar Mandir History and Architecture
The Shivalinga installed inside the sanctum sanctorum of the temple is very ancient. It is believed that this temple dates back to the Dwapar Yuga. According to legends, when Shri Krishna was born in Mathura, Shri Krishna’s mother Mata Yashoda desired (“man kaamnaa”) to see him. Lord Shiva came here to fulfill that wish. Since then, the temple has been known as Mankameshwar (the one who fulfills wishes of the mind). According to legend, when Lord Krishna was born in Mathura, Lord Shiva came here to bless him. Since then, the temple has been considered highly sacred.
The main Shivlinga is covered with a silver metal layer. The temple is always crowded during Shravan month and on Mondays, which are sacred for Shiva.

Temple is open for the whole week. Darshan timing is Morning: 5:00 AM – 12:00 Noon and in Evening: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM.

Maha Shivratri is a grand celebration here. In Shravan Maas continuous Rudrabhishek and special pujas conducted. Other festivals like Janmashtami and Diwali are also celebrated with devotion.

The temple is located in the narrow lanes near Rawatpara market, Agra, close to Agra Fort railway station.
