The Bileshwar Mahadev Temple is located near the Sadar police station in the Cantonment area of Meerut. This temple is considered one of the oldest Shiva temples in Meerut—that is, it is one of the old temples. The temple's Shivalinga is considered self-manifested and is considered a Jagroot Jyotirlinga. Devotees believe that lighting a lamp in this temple for 40 days fulfills their wishes. There is great devotion for the Jalabhishek and worship here, especially during the month of Sawan.
Mythological/Historical significance of Bileshwar Mahadev Temple
❀ Bileshwar Mahadev Temple was established in the 18th-19th centuries, when the Marathas ruled the region. The present temple's architecture reflects the Maratha period. A Shivalinga is installed in the temple, and devotees worship here.
❀ It is said that Mandodari, Ravan's wife, used to worship here daily. She prayed to Lord Shiva for a boon, asking for \"the most powerful and learned husband\"; and it is believed that she received Ravan as her boon. Therefore, this temple is also associated with the Ramayana era.
❀ Today, the temple complex also houses a Sanskrit college. This means it serves not only as a place of worship but also as an educational institution.

The temple is open during the White Week and darshan timings are from 6 am to 9 pm.
Major festivals of Bileshwar Mahadev Temple
Shivaratri and Sawan Somvar are the temple's main festival. According to Bhakti Bharat in 2025, the Jagannath Rath Yatra was also celebrated here with great pomp and show. Numerous devotees and local dignitaries participated in it.
