Gogamedi Temple is the unique temple of the country dedicated to Gogaji located in Gogamedi (Hanumangarh) of Rajasthan. The temple is believed to be nearly 950 years old. This temple has a unique tradition of offering onions and pulses, no other temple will be found in the country where onions are accepted as donations and offerings. There is a heap of onions in the temple throughout the year. Gaushala and Bhandara are organized by selling donated onions. Both Hindus and Muslims reach this temple to have darshan.

Who is Gogaji?
Gogaji is considered to be the folk deity of Rajasthan. Whose birthplace was Dadareva village of Churu district. He was born in the womb of Bachhal, the wife of Jaber (Jawar Singh), a Rajput ruler of the Dadareva (Churu) Chauhan dynasty of Rajasthan. Gogaji was a disciple of Guru Gorakhnath.

History of Gogamedi Temple
A thousand years ago there was a war between Gogaji and the invader Mahmud Ghaznavi. In the war, Gogaji had called in the army from the surrounding areas. The soldiers who came for the fight had brought pulses and onions with them. In this war, Gogaji attained Veergati. During his return after his death, soldiers offered onions and lentils at his grave, a tradition that has continued ever since.

People of all religions come here from far and wide to pay their respects. Kayam Khani Muslim society calls him by the name of Jahar Pir. In this way Gogaji is seated as a secular deity.

How to worship in Gogaji Temple
According to a belief, every devotee who comes to Dadreva should first take a bath in Gorakh Ganga and eat kheer made from that water. After which the devotee should go to Gorakh Tila and offer onion prasad in the temple. Apart from lentils and onions, Kheel, Batase are also offered as prasad.

According to local residents, 20-30 lakh devotees reach here every year to have darshan. Most of whom come from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. More devotees come here during the Shukla Paksha from Punjab.

Gogaji Temple Fair
A 15-day fair is held every year in the Gogaji temple. Which starts from the second day of Rakshabandhan. The maximum crowd in this is on Chhath, Saptami and Ashtami of Krishna Paksha and on Chhath, Saptami and Ashtami of Shukla Paksha.

How to reach Gogaji Temple?
Jaipur city is very well connected by all national roads, railways and airways of the country. Dattakheda is located 15 km away from Jaipur and Sadalpur from Jaipur, it is very easy to reach Gogaji Temple.
