Jagannath Dham located in the east of India is considered to be one of the four Vaishnava dham. The Four Dhams of India are the four Vaishnava shrines defined by Adi Guru Shankaracharya. Where every Hindu must go in his lifetime, which will help Hindus to attain salvation.

Know About Sri Jagannath Temple in English:
Sri Jagannath Temple has four entrance gates in the four directions, which are installed in the east, Singh Gate / Moksha Gate, South Ashwa Gate / Kama Gate, West Vyaghra Gate / Dharma Gate, and North Elephant Gate / Karma Gate respectively. The Arun pillar brought from Konark Sun Temple has been installed at the lion gate of the temple, and the main Deity of Konark temple, Lord Surya Dev has also been installed here.

There is a small temple of Hanuman ji along with the horse gate of the temple, in which the huge Deity of Shri Hanumant Lal is present. The architecture of the temple is made of limestone by the Kalinga style. To preserve this temple, the Archaeological of India has started applying white rust-resistant coating on the outer walls of the temple. According to Hindu Panchang, Ekadashi Darshan has special significance in the temple.

Shri Jagannath Rath Yatra
The most famous festival / fair / festival of Jagannath Dham is the world famous Sri Rath Yatra. The holy journey begins at the Sri Jagannath Temple and culminates at the Sri Gundicha Temple via the Mausi Maa Temple. There is a three-kilometer long Grandroad connecting these three temples. Where Lord Jagannath, brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra travel throughout the day. This journey involves so many devotees from the country and abroad, that it is difficult to find a place to set foot on the Grand Road. At various places, water and food are arranged for the devotees.

Jagannath Dham or Govardhan Math?
Jagannath Puri is located in the state of Odisha in the east of India. Puri is situated between the Bhargavi and Dhodia rivers and merges into the Bay of Bengal. Puri is world-famous for Jagannath Rath Yatra. Like Dwarka, Shankaracharya Math in Puri is not associated with the temple. Govardhan Math is located at some distance from the temple along with the Devi Vimala temple.

According to Adi Guru Shankaracharya, Jagannath Dham has been given the name of Govardhan Math. Under Govardhan Math, the name Aranya is applied behind the names of ascetics who receive initiation. The Mahavakya of this monastery is Pragyanam Brahm and the Veda that comes under it is kept in the Rigveda. Padmapada was the first monastery of Govardhan Math. Padmapada ji was one of the prominent four disciples of Adi Shankaracharya.
