Kamakhya temple is full of miracles, Devi’s Yoni is worshiped here and due to the presence of the yoni part, the mata also menstruates.

Mythology
According to the temple Dharma Purana, it is believed that this Shaktipeeth got its name as Kamakhya because at this place Bhagwan Vishnu had done 51 parts of Mata Sati with his chakra to dislodge Bhagwan Shiva's disillusionment with Mata Sati, where this part fell there. But mata became a Shaktipeeth and at this place the mata’s yoni had fallen, which is a very powerful Peeth today.

Famous things of Kamakhya Devi Temple
◉ Kanya Poojan and Bhandara are done here to fulfill the wishes. Along with this, animals are sacrificed here.
◉ Kamakhya Mata is the most important devi of Tantriks after Kali and Tripura Sundari Devi. Kamakhya Devi is worshiped as the new bride of Bhagwan Shiva, the one who accepts liberation and fulfills all desires.
◉ Every devotee who comes to the temple premises with his wish is fulfilled. In a temple adjacent to this temple, you will find an idol of the mata. It is called Kamadeva Temple.
◉ It is believed that the tantriks here are also capable of warding off evil forces. Many people go on pilgrimage to Kamakhya for the fulfillment of marriage, children, wealth and other desires.

Famous festivals
Ambubachi Mela is the famous festival here, every year during the Ambubachi Mela the water of the Brahmaputra located nearby turns red for three days. This red color of water is due to the menstruation of Devi Kamakhya. Then after three days, a crowd of devotees throng the temple here for darshan.

Very strange prasad is given to the devotees in the temple. Unlike other Shaktipeeths, red colored wet cloth is given as prasad in Kamakhya Devi temple. It is said that when the mata is menstruating for three days, a white cloth is spread inside the temple. After three days, when the doors of the temple are opened, then that cloth is soaked in red color from the raj of the mata. This cloth is called Ambuvachi cloth. This is given to the devotees as prasad.

This temple has a different significance on Durga Puja, Pohan Biya, Durgadeul, Vasanti Puja, Madanadeul, Ambuvasi and Manasa Puja, due to which lakhs of devotees reach here these days.
