Shiva. Mahadev. The Evils Destroyer. Called by different names but ultimately the Supreme. Shiva’s Jyotirlinga is highly revered among the Hindus. Jyotirlingas are the shrines where Bhagwan Shiva is worshipped in the form of a Jyotirlingam. Jyotirlingam is the radiant sign (phallus symbol) of The Almighty. The word ‘Jyoti’ means light and ‘linga’ means sign. Jyotirlinga is the light of Bhagwan Shiva.
According to the Puranas in Hindu religion, Shivaji is established in a form of Shivling at 12 different places and these places are worshipped as Jyotirling in India.
There are twelve major Shivaasthan i.e. Jyotirlinga in India. These appeared in stunning form. The thirteenth body is called Kalpind. The body which has reached beyond time-limit is called (Dehko) Kalpind. This twelve Jyotirlinga is the body in symbolic form; Pashupatinath of Kathmandu is the head of Jyotirlingas.
