12 Jyotirlinga
Shiva. Mahadev. The Evils Destroyer. Called by different names but ultimately the Supreme. Shiva’s Jyotirlinga is highly revered among the Hindus. Jyotirlingas are the shrines where Bhagwan Shiva is worshipped in the form of a Jyotirlingam. Jyotirlingam is the radiant sign (phallus symbol) of The Almighty. The word ‘Jyoti’ means light and ‘linga’ means sign. Jyotirlinga is the light of Bhagwan Shiva.
According to the Puranas in Hindu religion, Shivaji is established in a form of Shivling at 12 different places and these places are worshipped as Jyotirling in India. There are twelve major Shivaasthan i.e. Jyotirlinga in India. These appeared in stunning form. The thirteenth body is called Kalpind. The body which has reached beyond time-limit is called (Dehko) Kalpind. This twelve Jyotirlinga is the body in symbolic form; Pashupatinath of Kathmandu is the head of Jyotirlingas.

@Deoghar Jharkhand

Baidyanath Jyotirlinga Temple, also commonly known as Baidyanath Dham, is considered to be the holiest abode of Bhagwan Shiva. Baidyanath Dham is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas located in Deoghar, Jharkhand.

◉ The only Jyotirlinga in Jharkhand among twelve Jyotirlingas.
◉ One of the 52 Shaktipeeths of Mata Sati, the heart of the mother resides.


@Bhimashankar Maharashtra

Shri Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Bhagwan Shiva. Nandi Maharaj and Kachhap Dev are seated in front of the sanctum of the temple.

@Ellora Maharashtra

Grishneshwar Temple is a Jyotirlinga temple of Shiva located near the Ellora Caves in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. This temple is considered to be the last or twelfth Jyotirlinga.

◉ Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga is considered to be the last or twelfth Jyotirlinga (linga of light).
◉ Grishneshwar is mentioned in Shiva Purana, Skanda Purana, Ramayana and Mahabharata.
◉ The sanctum (innermost chamber) of the temple has a Shiva Linga which can be touched by devotees.


@Varanasi Uttar Pradesh

The world famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple is located in Varanasi. This temple of Bhagwan Shiva is situated on the banks of river Ganga in Varanasi city of Uttar Pradesh. Kashi Vishwanath Temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Bhagwan Shiva.

@Kedarnath Uttarakhand

Kedarnath Temple is located on the Garhwal Himalayan range in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, India.

◉ One of the Char Dham Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath of Uttarakhand.


@Ujjain Madhya Pradesh

@Dwarka Gujarat

Shri Nageshwar Jyotirlinga the Gods of Nagas, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva in India. It is said in the Rudra Sanhita that this form of Shiv have been referred as Darulawane Nagesh.

@Omkareshwar Madhya Pradesh

Omkareshwar is the fourth linga in the twelfth Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva. It is located in Mandhata city of Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh state in India, also known as Omkareshwar.

◉ Omkareshwar is the fourth Jyotirlinga among the twelfth Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva.
◉ All sins are destroyed by the darshan of Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga.
◉ Omkareshwar is the only temple where Shayan Aarti of Lord Shiva is performed by the temple priests.


@Rameswaram Tamil Nadu

Rameswaram is the four pilgrimage places of India, Char Dham, it invites followers of Bhagwan Shiva from everywhere to visit the Jyotirlinga installed in the Ramanathaswamy temple at least once in their lifetime.

◉ Rameshwaram is one of the most sacred Hindu Char Dham sites along with Badrinath, Puri, Dwarka.
◉ The primary deity of the temple is Ramanathaswamy (Shiva) in the form of lingam.
◉ Rameswaram is also one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples.

@Somnath Gujarat

Shri Somnath Jyotirlinga Mandir is first among the twelve(12) Aadi Jyotirlings of India. Somnath means The Lord of the Soma, and the meaning of Soma is Chandra Dev (Lord Moon).

◉ Arati Timing: 7:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
◉ Daily light and sound show.
◉ Shiv mahima jhankiyan at the right side.
