Mahalaya marks the beginning of Devipaksha and heralds the
Durga Puja festivities. It's celebrated at dawn with a traditional broadcast, which is an evocative blend of Sanskrit Chandi Path (Durga Saptashati), Bengali devotional songs, classical music, and narrative drama.
