Pouranik Katha on Ayudha Puja
According to the legend, Ayudha Puja is associated with the war when Goddess Durga fought with the demon Mahishasura. The goddess defeated the demon Mahishasura, who had taken the form of a buffalo. In the nine-day war that ended on the eve of Navami, Devi Durga used the powers and weapons that the gods and goddesses had given her. The Ayudha Puja ritual symbolizes reverence for the weapons and equipment used by them in this historical conflict.
