The three main Teej celebrated in the month of Sawan and Bhadon are Hariyali Teej, Kajari Teej, Hartalika Teej which are very famous among women. Kajari Teej festival is celebrated on Krishna Tritiya three days after Rakshabandhan in Bhadrapada month and five days before Shri Krishna Janmashtami. This Kajari Teej festival is also known as Badi Teej, Saturi Teej, Budhi Teej and Kajali Teej. It is a difficult festival in the sense that the fasting person does not even drink water during the day's fast.
Importance of Kajari Teej
The word Kajari has its origins in the folk tradition, which describes how a woman feels the pain of a short period of separation from her husband. This festival is also associated with the monsoon. Women go to their ancestral home to perform rituals and worship the moon. They also worship the Neem tree. The importance of praying to Bhagwan Shiva and Mata Parvati lies in the fact that they represent a happily married couple.
On this day, every woman swings on a swing and dances with her friends in a group with songs of bhajan, kirtan and jhula. Married women keep a fast for their husbands and unmarried girls for a good husband. On the day of the festival, women apply mehndi on their palms and wear new clothes. This festival is mostly celebrated in parts of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
