Devotees visit to seek blessings, resolve personal issues, and for prosperity.
Shyam Kaka Temple History and Architecture
❀ The temple was built in 1845 CE during the mid-19th century.
❀ According to local tradition, it was commissioned by Bhagali Devi in memory of her husband Shyam Dev Khinchi — a local ruler who died in battle. After a dispute with her husband, Bhagali Devi took refuge with Amara Singh Gurjar, a local chieftain. When Shyam Dev was killed later, the queen built this temple to commemorate him, installing an idol of Lord Krishna (Shyam) — believed to also represent her late husband’s spirit.
❀ Despite being a Vaishnavite temple dedicated to Krishna, one of its most remarkable features is a panel depicting six Muslim men in robes offering namaz — symbolizing religious coexistence and harmony. Legend holds that these visitors from Arabia were inspired to pray here, and a divine vision of Mecca and Medina appeared within the temple premises.
❀ During British rule, the temple was plundered — nearly 123 kg of gold was looted.
❀ The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has recognized the temple as a protected site, acknowledging its cultural and historical value.
❀ The temple exhibits a strong Indo-Saracenic influence — a style that merges traditional Indian architectural forms with Islamic design elements.
