The Saptarishi (सप्तऋषि) are the seven great sages (rishis) in Hindu tradition, regarded as the most enlightened seers who received divine knowledge and guided humanity. They are deeply connected with Vedic wisdom, cosmic order (dharma), and spiritual evolution.
Who are the Saptarishi?
❀ The term Saptarishi literally means “Seven Sages”. According to Hindu scriptures like the Vedas and Puranas, these sages are considered mind-born sons (Manas Putra) of Brahma, the creator of the universe.

❀ They are eternal beings who appear in every cosmic age (Manvantara) to guide humanity.

List of Saptarishi:
❀ Kashyapa – Father of many species (humans, devas, animals)
❀ Atri – Known for deep meditation and wisdom
Maharishi Vashishtha – Guru of Lord Rama
❀ Vishvamitra – A king turned great sage
❀ Gautama – Known for righteousness and penance
❀ Jamadagni – Father of Parashurama
❀ Bharadvaja – Master of knowledge and warfare sciences

The Saptarishi are also associated with the seven stars of the Big Dipper (Ursa Major constellation), known in India as Saptarishi Mandal.
