Bagalamukhi is the Goddess in whose countenance resides the power to subdue or control anyone. Bagalamukhi possesses a golden complexion and is clad in yellow garments. She is seated upon a golden throne situated amidst an ocean of nectar teeming with yellow lotuses. A crescent moon adorns her forehead. Various scriptures describe two forms of this Goddess:
Dvibhuja (two-armed) and
Chaturbhuja (four-armed). Bagalamukhi is also known by the names
Pitambara Devi and
Brahmastra Rupini.
