✨Randhan Chhath - रांधण छठ

Randhan Chhath Date: Thursday, 14 August 2025

Randhan Chhath is a traditional Gujarati Hindu festival, mainly observed by women, and it is associated with cooking food for Shitala Satam, which follows the next day.

When Randhan Chhath Celebrated?
❀ Randhan means cooking
❀ Chhath refers to the sixth day of the Hindu lunar month, particularly Shravan Maas (around July–August)
❀ So, Randhan Chhath falls on the sixth day (Chhath) of the Shravan month, and the day is completely devoted to cooking food — especially satvik (pure vegetarian, no onion-garlic) food.
❀ This food is then eaten the next day during Shitala Satam, when cooking is not allowed, in honor of the goddess Shitala Mata, who is believed to protect children from diseases like smallpox and chickenpox.
