Vishnupad Mandir is one of the most sacred Hindu temples, located on the banks of the Falgu River in Gaya, Bihar. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and holds immense religious importance, especially for performing Pind Daan rituals for ancestors. Devotees from all over India visit the temple to perform Pind Daan for the liberation of the souls of their ancestors, believing it grants them moksha.
Vishnupad Mandir History and Architecture
Vishnupad Mandir have a Sacred Footprint. Inside the sanctum, there is a 40-cm-long footprint of Lord Vishnu carved in basalt rock. It is believed to be the spot where Lord Vishnu placed his foot on the demon Gayasura, pushing him into the earth.
The temple is built of dark gray granite stone and has an octagonal sanctum. The present structure is believed to have been reconstructed in the 18th century by Rani Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore.
Apart from Lord Vishnu’s footprint, shrines of Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Lord Narasimha and other deities are also present within the temple premises.

The temple is open for the whole week and the darshan timing is 5 AM to 11 PM.
Vishnupad Mandir Prime Festivals
The temple is most crowded during Pitru Paksha (September–October), when lakhs of devotees visit Gaya to perform Shraddha for their ancestors. As per Bhakti Bharat it is believed that visiting Vishnupad Mandir and performing Pind Daan ensures peace and salvation for departed souls. Major Hindu festivals like Diwali, Holi and Kartik Purnima are also celebrated very grandly.

Vishnupad Temple is located in Gaya, Bihar. Gaya is well connected by road, making it easy to reach here through various roads. The temple is just 4 kilometers away from Gaya Junction. Gaya Airport is the nearest airport to the temple.
