On the fifth day of the Shukla Paksha of Kartik month, in the Indian state of Gujarat, Labh Panchami is celebrated with the highest priority. The Labh Panchami festival is also called as Saubhagya Panchami, Gyan Panchami, Lakheni Panchami and Saubhagya Labh Pancham.

लाभस्तेषां जयस्तेषां कुतस्तेषां पराजयः
येषामिन्दीवरश्यामो हृदयस्थो जनार्दनः ॥

In the state of Gujarat, Panchami is considered the culmination of the Diwali festival. It is believed that worshiping on the day of Panchami brings benefits, fortune and progress in business and family. Labh Panchami is the first working day of Gujarat New Year. Most of the businessmen in Gujarat start their work by celebrating Diwali and return to Labh Panchami.

Labh Panchami Puja Vidhi

❀ On the day of Saubhagya Panchami or Labh Panchami, wake up early in the morning, take bath etc., wear red clothes and offer Arghya to Surya Dev.
❀ Then in the auspicious time, worship Bhagwan Shiva and Bhagwan Ganesh with chandan, flowers, Akshat and Mauli. Offer Durva, vermilion and modak to bhagwan Ganesh. Wrap Kalava on a puja betel nut and worship it as a symbol of Ganapati.
❀ Offer ashes and Dhatura to Bholenath.
❀ Offer agur, lotus flower, white sweets to devi Lakshmi and chant the mantra ॐ श्रीं ल्कीं महालक्ष्मी महालक्ष्मी एह्येहि सर्व सौभाग्यं देहि मे स्वाहा.
❀ If you have not been able to worship the new books on Diwali, then you can do this auspicious work on the day of Labh Panchami.
❀ On the day of Labh Panchami, food, clothes, money or other essential things should also be donated to the poor and needy.

Importance of Labh Panchami

The festival of Labh Panchami is associated with the popular Hindu festival of lights, Diwali. The words 'Labh' and 'Saubhagya' symbolize 'profit' and 'good fortune' respectively.
