His Holiness Bhakti Ashraya Vaishnava Swami came in contact with ISKCON and “Bhagavad Gita As It Is” while working as a manager in 1984. Inspired by the teachings of Srila Prabhupada, he joined ISKCON Vrindavan in 1985 and took initiation from His Holiness Gopal Krishna Goswami in 1986.

Ashray Vaishnava Swami is a disciple of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), commonly known as the Hare Krishna movement. ISKCON, founded by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, focuses on the teachings of Lord Krishna as outlined in the Bhagavad-Gita, Bhagavatam and other sacred texts.

Aashraya Vaishnava Swami is the spiritual leader who works to spread the philosophy of Krishna consciousness, guide devotees, and lead the temple activities. They often engage in spiritual practice, such as chanting the Hare Krishna mantra, performing rituals, giving lectures, and nurturing the spiritual growth of their followers.

He accepted the renunciatory order of life on the auspicious day of Vairagya Murthi Srila Gaurikishor Das Babaji's Prakata Divas in 2013. He sings Vaishnava hymns in a melodious and beautiful manner and explains their purposes. Maharaj focuses on establishing loving relationships with devotees and everyone else. He is famous for his lectures in various languages, especially in Hindi, English and Oriya and is known for his simplicity. Maharaj travels around the world and also visits South Africa every year for the festival of colours.
