Importance of Satyanarayan Puja and Vrat
According to Vedic astrology, keeping Satyanarayan fast blesses Bhagwan Vishnu with health, prosperity, wealth and glory. At the same time, it is also believed that by observing vart on this day and reciting Satyanarayan Katha with utmost devotion and faith, all the troubles go away.

According to the rules, by observing this fast, it is believed that you will get good results. The puja can be performed in the morning as well as in the evening and it is considered more appropriate to perform the Satyanarayana Puja in the evening.

❀ On this day, one should wake up early in the morning and take a bath by adding Ganges water to the water.
❀ After this, place the idol of Satyanarayan and tie banana leaves around it.
❀ Panchamritham (a mixture of milk, honey, ghee/butter, curd and sugar) is used to clean the deity, usually the Shaligram, which is the divine stone of Maha Vishnu.
❀ Keep an urn filled with water on the post and light a lamp of desi ghee.
❀ Now do worship and Katha of Satyanarayan.
❀ Mix sugar in roasted flour and offer it to God.
❀ Do put basil (Tulsi Patta) in the prasad.
❀ Distribute Prasad after worship.

The puja ends with an aarti, which consists of circumambulating a small fire lit with camphor around the image or deity of the god. After the Aarti, the fasting people have to take Panchamrit and Prasad. Vrati can consume Prasad after breaking the fast with Panchamrit.
