Lenyadri Ganapati Temple, also known as Girijatmaj Ganapati Temple, is located near Junnar, Maharashtra. Lenyadri Ganapati Temple is one of the sacred Ashtavinayaka temples dedicated to Bhagwan Ganesh in Maharashtra. This temple is unique in that it is built within an ancient rock-cut cave located on a hill.

How to Reach Lenyadri Ganapati Temple
The temple is located on the Lenyadri hill near Junnar, Pune. Lenyadri can be reached from Pune and Mumbai by state transport buses and private cabs. The nearest major railway stations are Pune Junction and Talegaon. The nearest airport is Pune International Airport.
The Lenyadri Ganapati Temple is the only Ashtavinayaka temple located within a mountain cave. Bhagwan Ganesh is worshipped here as Girijatmaja, meaning son of Girija (Parvati).
According to tradition, Goddess Parvati performed rigorous penance in Lenyadri, and Bhagwan Ganesh was born here. According to Bhaktibharat, the temple is located in Cave 7 of the ancient Lenyadri Caves complex, which originally consisted of Buddhist caves dating back more than 2,000 years.
The temple is carved out of a single rock. Devotees climb over 300 stone steps to reach the temple. The cave has a large pillarless hall. The idol of Bhagwan Ganesh is considered to be Swayambhu (self-manifested) and is carved on the cave wall. The temple receives natural sunlight during the day and traditionally had no electricity. According to Bhaktibharat, the ascent, darshan, and descent take approximately 1 to 2 hours.
