The serial depicts the life of Krishna—from his miraculous birth, childhood adventures, love affairs (such as with Radha), marriages (including Rukmini), his teachings in the Bhagavad Gita, and his pivotal role in the Mahabharata war. The serial proved to be a huge hit on DD, earning record advertising revenues—over ₹70 crore—and topping TRP ratings on metro channels with ₹14.31 crore in its first year.
