Bhagwan Jagannath Navami Darshan (भगवान जगन्नाथ नवमी दर्शन)

Bhagwan Jagannath Navami Darshan is an auspicious day in Hinduism especially for Bhagwan Jagannath devotees. This day is also known as Sandhya Darshan or Navami Darshan or Adap Mandap Darshan. An auspicious occasion when devotees visit the deities and worship the deities.
When is the festival of Bhagwan Jagannath Navami Darshan celebrated?
Shubh Navami Darshan takes place on the Navami Tithi of Jagannath's Rath Yatra. In the Gundicha temple, devotees have darshan of Bhagwan Jagannath, Bhagwan Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra. Devotees get salvation according to Garuda Purana by having darshan of Bhagwan Jagannath on this day.

From Rath Yatra to Niladri Bije, there are some rituals for Bhagwan Jagannath at Gundicha Temple every day. If Hera Panchami is celebrated on the 5th day of Rath Yatra, Navami Darshan is observed on the Navami Tithi of Rath Yatra. According to the scriptures, this tradition of Jagannath Rath of Jagannath Rath Yatra is very old and prominent. It is believed that one day Devi Subhadra, the younger sister of Bhagwan Jagannath expressed her desire to take a round of the city and since then the procession started. During this festival, a procession of three chariots of Bhagwan Jagannath, his elder brother Bhagwan Balabhadra and his sister devi Subhadra is taken from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple and stops at the Mausi Maa Temple, where they are offered their favorite food.

Place of Bhagwan Jagannath Navami Darshan:
The evening darshan takes place at the Gundicha temple in Puri, Orissa and the darshan takes place from 6 pm to 9 pm. Devotees wait for several hours in long queues outside the temple for a glimpse of the Tridev in the form of Sandhya Darshan on the 'Navami Tithi' in the month of Ashadha in the Odia calendar. After darshan, devotees consume 'Mahaprasad'.

Every year a very special arrangement is made by the Odisha government for this Navami Darshan as devotees from all over the world gather for the darshan of Bhagwan Jagannath Navami.
