There are many ways to get rid of evils in Hinduism. The holy sutras have great importance in Hinduism. People wear these sacred threads on different parts of their body for positive results. Different colors like red, orange, white, black and yellow are present in the sacred thread. All threads have their specific reasons.
Significance of sacred colored threads:

White Thread (Janeu)
This special thread is worn only by the male members of Brahmin caste families. It depicts the transformation from a young boy to a man. Brahmins make the male member wear it by conducting a ceremony called the sacred "thread ceremony". Some Kshatriyas and Vaishyas also wear it.

Red Thread (Kalava)
Red threads are very common among Hindus. Men as well as women can wear it with a small worship method. The red thread is usually tied on the right hand for men and unmarried women, while for married women it is tied on the left hand. You will find this thread in any temple. It is a cotton thread and was first offered as a cloth to the deity.

Wearing a red thread called "Anant Chaudas Dhaga" on Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturdashi or Anant Chaturdashi is considered very auspicious. It is worn either as an armlet. Wearing it brings happiness, health and prosperity.

Significance: The red thread or kalava symbolizes longevity and protection from enemies. Therefore, it is also called "defense thread". It is believed that wearing it bestows the blessings of God upon you.

Black Thread
This is another powerful thread worn by Hindus. In the case of young children, it is usually tied around their waist and adults tie it around their left wrist or arm. Some people also tie a special root to it and wear it as a necklace. People who practice black magic/tantrik can also wear it on their right leg.

Significance: It is said to keep children away from the evil eye. It also keeps people away from evil spirits or unwanted tantra spells.

Orange or Saffron Thread
Orange thread is very popular in South and East India. People wear it for different reasons. It is a long thread that is wrapped several times around the wrist to form a bundle.

Significance: It is said that it brings fame, power and protects the person from all evils.

Yellow Thread
Yellow is the color of purity and good health. People consider this color very important in auspicious functions like marriage or house opening ceremonies. Hindus use it during marriages as a symbol of good luck by adding turmeric to a thick cotton thread. The bride is made to wear it around the neck or armlet by tying three knots.

Significance: It is said that this leads to a happy and successful married life. This also ensures the long life of the bride's husband.
