Radha Pada Darshan on Amla Navami (आंवला नवमी पर राधा पद दर्शन)

On the auspicious occasion of Amla Navami or Anla Navami, thousand of devotees have made a beeline to the well-known Gopinath Temple of Bhagwan Shri Krishna at Sakhigopal temple, Puri, Odisha for the well-known Radha Pada Darshan custom. On this occasion, the devotees have a darshan of the feet of Devi Radha and seek her blessings.This time Radha Pada Darshan and amla navami and will be celebrated on Tuesday, 21 November 2023.

Radha Pada Darshan is believed to lead to moksha or salvation. Radharani’s lotus feet are kept covered throughout the time, but on Amla Navami, one can get a sacred darshan as she wears her clothes in a typical classical Odisha saree. This saree wearing is called Kania Kachha tradition. it's believed that viewing radha’s feet and worshipping the amla tree on this day brings great fortune to the devotees. this is the only day in the year when the feet of the Devi can be viewed. ISKON temple’s also celebrate this day in a grand way.

The ritual is conducted on Amla Navami ahead of 5- day Panchuka (last five days of Kartik month) on the holy month Kartik.
