Due to the curse of a yogi, Mathura king Kalanemi is unable to marry his daughter Vrinda. Vrinda is married to demon king Jalandhar, who had received the boon of immortality from Lord Brahma. Both live in bliss for some time, but when Jalandhara's guru reminds him to avenge his grandfather from the gods, he takes up arms, and with Vrinda's blessings, he first defeats Lord Indra, and abducts Indrayani.
Jalandhar's ambitions grow further, resulting in him battling Lord Vishnu, forcing the latter to retreat. After that the demon king looks at Goddess Parvati with lustful eyes, then even the angry Lord Shankar is forced to retreat.
Due to his ego, he does not realize that Vrinda is responsible for his success. And he keeps torturing Vrinda in various ways. All this is shown in this movie.
