How Australian Devotees Celebrate Janmashtami:
Across Australia, the auspicious arrival of Sri Krishna is celebrated with bright and colorful celebrations featuring inspiring Vedic stories, uplifting kirtans, peaceful chant meditations, abhishekas and of course joyous Indian celebrations!

In the great Vedic text, the Bhagavad Gita, Shri Krishna tells us that He is the original father, our refuge, our support and our dearest friend.

"I am the goal, I am the sustainer, the master, the witness, the abode, the refuge and the dearest friend. I am the creation and destruction. I am the base of everything, the resting place and the eternal seed. I am the seed-giving father of all living beings. " (Bhagavad Gita 9:18)

A beautiful description of the most auspicious occasion of the appearance of Shri Krishna is found in the ancient Bhagavata Purana:

“The night Krishna was born, all directions were peaceful. Auspicious stars shone in the sky and rivers were full of water, adorned with blooming lotus flowers. Birds sang and peacocks danced in the forests, the air was pleasant and flowers rained from the sky. Angels and divine beings rejoiced, offering prayers, dancing and singing. There was the sound of light waves on the shore of the sea and the clouds roared pleasantly over the sea while the full moon rose in the sky.
