The temple is renowned for its 58-foot-tall Gangadhareshwara statue, crafted by local artist P.S. Devadathan. This statue depicts Lord Shiva in a seated posture with flowing hair holding the river Ganga, symbolizing his role as Gangadhareshwara. The statue is mounted on a rock 20 feet above sea level, making it a striking landmark.

The temple's architecture blends Dravidian and Kerala styles, featuring intricately carved sculptures of various Hindu deities such as Ganesha, Ayyappa, Vishnu, Kartikeya, and Hanuman. The temple's sanctum sanctorum is adorned with beautiful carvings and paintings depicting scenes from Hindu mythology.

The Aazhimala Shiva Temple is open for the whole week and the darshan timing is 5:30AM to 10:30 AM and 5 PM to 7:30 PM.

On Tuesdays, devotees participate in the tradition of floating lemon-lit lamps known as Naranga Vilakku on the sea, which is a mesmerizing sight.
