Gyanmati Mataji is an Indian Jain religious Aryika (female saint in Jainism). She is considered to be the first Kshullika or Jain Sadhvi in history who translated and authored many Jain literature, scriptures and manuscripts. On the day of
Sharad Purnima, she was initiated as Brahmacharini by Acharya Shri Deshbhushanji in Barabanki district.
Gyanmati Mataji translated the famous Sanskrit text Nyaya-Ashtasahasri into Hindi in the year 1969. She has written over 450 different publications ranging from auspicious quotes and thoughts to books and volumes.
She is known for building several Jain temples including the Jambudweepa temple complex at Hastinapur in Uttar Pradesh, Ayodhya Jain and the Statue of Ahimsa at Mangi Tungi in Maharashtra.
She established the Digambar Jain Institute of Cosmographic Research in 1972 with the aim of building a monumental model of Jambudweepa for a better understanding of Jain cosmology.
She was the inspiration behind the 108 feet tall statue of Rishabhanatha at Mangi-Tungi, which is the tallest Jain statue in the world. This statue holds the Guinness World Record for the tallest Jain statue.
