Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar, popularly known as 'Swar Kokila', was a famous Indian playback singer, bhajan singer and occasional musician. She is considered one of the greatest and most influential singers of the Indian subcontinent.
The country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had given the title of Swar Kokila to Lata Mangeshkar. Lata Mangeshkar's famous song 'Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon', on hearing which Prime Minister Nehru's eyes were filled with tears, 'Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon', which is counted among the best patriotic songs of India, was sung for the first time on 27 January 1963.

Swar Samraagyee Lata Mangeshkar was always called as night angel of India. There was that ringing and feeling in her voice, which made her different from others. She was one of the most respected singers of India. She entered the world of music when she was very young. Then at the age of 13, she also sang a song for the first time. Even though she is not among us today, her contribution to music will always be remembered.
