Ram Barat Agra (राम बारात आगरा)

The Ram Barat procession will begin on September 17, marking the beginning of the four-day Janakpuri Festival in Kamla Nagar. The event will celebrate the cultural heritage of North India. The festival will feature a Ram Barat, followed by several events from September 17 to 20, including the depiction of the marriage of Lord Ram and Sita.
History of Ram Barat
The history of Ram Barat is said to date back approximately 125 years, when Lala Kokamal, a prominent businessman, started the tradition of a three-day celebration surrounding a royal wedding. He has had such a profound influence on this festival that the road along which the procession passes has been named "Lala Kokamal Marg." Now, Lala Kokamal's great-grandson, Rajiv K. Agarwal, has also begun contributing his time to the event.

The summary of Ram Barat 2025 is as follows:
❀ Ram Barat / Janakpuri Mahotsav 2025 is scheduled to be held on September 17-20, 2025.
❀ The Ram Barat procession will begin on September 17 and ceremonies such as the marriage of Ram and Sita will be held at Janak Mahal over the next three days (September 18-20).
❀ This time the venue is Janakpuri, Kamala Nagar, Agra.

The general structure of the four days is as follows:
❀ September 17: Shri Ram's wedding procession begins; Sita's "dola" (some symbolic rituals) is carried around the area; the procession continues towards Janakpuri.
❀ September 18-20: Wedding ceremony of Lord Ram and Mother Sita; darshan and aarti at Janak Mahal; public gatherings; cultural/religious programs.
❀ Heavy vehicle traffic will be prohibited on the procession routes from the afternoon of September 17 to September 18.

Other important details of the Ram Barat
❀ Procession Timings: The procession (Barat) will begin at noon (around 2:00 pm) on the first day.
❀ Ramlila performance by a renowned Moradabad troupe (Pankaj Agarwal's group), which has also performed in Ayodhya.
❀ A special feature will be the tableaux of the "Dwadasha Jyotirlingas" which will be the centre of attraction.
❀ The "Lanka" built for this event will be a three-storeyed structure and will be a major decorative attraction.

The festival lasts for three days. It is witnessed by millions of people from Agra as well as neighboring districts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The entire area is illuminated with thousands of lamps and music plays continuously. These three days can be seen as a big festival where people from all walks of life come together and have a good time.
