Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti is celebrated on the birth anniversary of the tenth and last Guru of Sikhs, Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji . In the Sikh sect, the birth anniversary of the Gurus is known as Prakash Parv. Prakash Parv is considered to be the highest festival in the Sikh sect. Therefore this festival is called Guru Gobind Singh Prakash Parv.
Sri Guru Gobind Singh was born on 22 December 1666 Paush Shukla Saptami in Patna Sahib. There is some difference of opinion regarding the day of the English calendar, the Panchang date and the day of Nanakshahi Jantri (Calendar), but this Prakash Parv is celebrated with the most recognition on Paush Shukla Saptami Tithi.

Brief Introduction of Guru Gobind Singh
◉ Shri Guru Gobind Singh was born to the ninth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and Mata Gujri.
◉ Guru Gobind Singh had four sons Ajit Singh, Jujhar Singh, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh.
◉ On the day of Vaisakhi, on 29 March 1676, Shri Gobind Singh Ji had assumed the title of the tenth Guru of the Sikhs.
◉ He founded the Khalsa Panth on the day of Baisakhi in 1699.
