The Vishwakarma Temple in Guwahati was established in 1965 by Bhabakanta Sharma—a priest associated with the Kamakhya Temple — with the assistance of Mahavir Prasad Dhirasaria. Some locals state that its construction began in 1959–60, during the time the road leading to the Kamakhya Temple was being built.
