Evidence of The Temple

The presiding deity of the Devi Patan Temple is Maa Pateshwari Devi, a revered form of Devi Durga. It is believed that the right shoulder of Devi Sati fell here. Traditions of the Nath sect associate the temple with Guru Gorakhnath, and according to local legends, the temple was later renovated by Vikramaditya. Other deities worshipped are Bhagwan Shiva, Bhagwan Hanuman, Bhagwan Ganesha, and Bhairava.

श्री माँ पाटेश्वरी शक्तिपीठ मंदिर देवीपाटन के परिसर में नव निर्मित यात्री निवास के पीछे समय माई का एक काफी प्राचीन स्थान है। वहाँ एक वृक्ष के नीचे मंदिर बनाकर देवी का स्थान विशिष्ठ बना दिया गया है। समय माता का उल्लेख किसी शास्त्र प्रसिद्ध देवी के रूप में नहीं मिलता है। यह लोकदेवी है। थारूओं के प्रभाव क्षेत्र में अनेक स्थानों पर विभिन्न जनपदों में इनके स्थान मिलते हैं जहाँ लोकजन बड़ी श्रद्धा से पूर्जा-अर्चना करते हैं।
