Jagadguru Sri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswati Swamigal is the 70th and current head of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, one of India's most revered spiritual institutions. He assumed the position on February 28, 2018, after the demise of his predecessor Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamigal .

As the head of the Peetham, Swamigal has emphasized the importance of cultural and spiritual growth alongside economic development. During the Vijay Yatra in Karnataka in November 2024, he said India must strengthen its cultural and spiritual foundations to complement its economic progress.

Under his leadership, the Peetham has undertaken several initiatives, including the establishment of an art school offering a five-year sculpture course and a school for training priests. He also played an important role in the restoration of ancient temples and promotion of Vedic education.

Swamigal's tenure has been marked by efforts to integrate spiritual leadership with social service and cultural preservation. Until 2025, he will continue to lead the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, upholding its traditions and expanding its influence in contemporary society. His successor Satya Chandrasekharendra Saraswati is expected to carry forward the legacy of the Peetham.
