Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati, Shankaracharya of Dwarkapeeth, passed away on Sunday afternoon. After Swamiji's Devlok Yatra, the discussion on the name of his successor intensified. After the announcement of the successor, the Sant Samaj will take a decision on Dwarka and Jyotish Peeth.
Who can be the successor of Dwarka Peeth?
There is a lot of discussion about the name of two people as his successor. Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopananda Saraswati was the successor of Shankaracharya of Dwarka and Jyotishpeeth. The name of Dandi Swami Sadanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj is at the forefront as the successor of Dwarka Sharda Peeth. On the other hand, the name of Dandi Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Ji Maharaj is famous as the Shankaracharya of Jyotish Peeth. Both Shankaracharyas are considered to be the main disciples of Swami Swaroopananda Saraswati.

It is believed that Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopananda Saraswati has bequeathed their names in a traditional way.

When did Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati become Shankaracharya?
Swami Swaroopanand was made a Dandi Sanyasi in 1950. He took initiation from the Brahmalin Shankaracharya Swami Brahmananda Saraswati of Jyotirmath Peeth and became known as Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati. He received the title of Shankaracharya in 1981. He was the Shankaracharya of Dwarka Peeth as well as the Jyotishpeeth of Joshimath in Uttarakhand. After a long legal battle, he got the title of Shankaracharya of Jyotish Peeth. After the death of Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati, now the discussion of his successor has intensified.

Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati was 99 years old. He will be given Bhoo Samadhi on Monday at Paramhansi Ganga Ashram in Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh.
