He was a fourteenth century ruler who was believed to have miraculous powers. He had dedicated his entire life for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden. Many societies in India worship him as their presiding deity. Baba Ramdev Pir is a famous folk deity of Rajasthan. Ramdev Pir believed in the equality of all human beings, whether high or low, rich or poor. He helped the downtrodden by fulfilling their wishes. He is often depicted on horseback.

His followers are also spread across Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, Mumbai, Delhi and Sindh of Pakistan. Many fairs are organized in Rajasthan in his memory. Temples in his name are found in many states of India.
