Shri Beyt Dwarkadhish Mandir is exact residence of Lord Krishna on Dwarka island and the original idol at the temple is established by Devi Rukmani the wife of Shri Krishna. The current structure is built 500 years ago by Shri Vallabhacharya Ji. It is also believed, Shri Krishna and His friend Sudama meet this place and he gifted rice to Him. Therefore, during Dwarka visit, devotees donate rice to the Brahmins.
Bet Dwarka is considered the ancient city in Indian epic literature Mahabharata and Skanda Purana. Beyt Dwarka is also called Shankhodhar where Lord Vishnu slew the demon Shankhasura. Second thought of Shankhodhar name is due to a large source of conch shells found on this island, and Shankh is hindi name of conch shells.
