Shri Narasimha Saraswati is one of the most revered saints of the Datta tradition. According to Bhaktibharat, devotees regard him as the second incarnation of Lord Dattatreya in the Kali Yuga (following Shripad Shri Vallabha).
According to Bhaktibharat, Narahari was an extraordinary child. It is said that he spoke very little during his childhood and was deeply connected to the sacred syllable 'Om'. Following his Upanayana (sacred thread) ceremony, he began reciting the Vedas, astonishing the scholars around him.
Narhari left home at the age of about seven or eight and traveled to Kashi. There, he received initiation into Sannyasa from the ascetic Sri Krishna Saraswati, after which he came to be known as Narasimha Saraswati. Following his renunciation, he undertook extensive pilgrimages and visited numerous holy sites.
