Navratri Vrat Foods and Benefits
The Pavitra festival of Navratri is dedicated to Maa Durga. This is a very important festival of Hindu religion. Sharadiya Navratri 2025 is starting from 22nd Sep and will continue till 30th Sep. If you are thinking of fasting for the entire 9 days of Navratri, then here are some snacks, fruits and food items that you can consume during Navratri. These foods provide your body with the right amount of proteins, carbohydrates and vitamins as per its requirement.
List of Fasting Foods:
Milk
To remain healthy and energetic during Navratri Vrat, it is important that you consume liquid. Milk or milk products are consumed during Navratri. Milk provides abundant amount of protein to the body, which does not allow you to feel weak even without food for the nine days of Navratri.

Sabudana
Consuming Sabudana during Navratri is very beneficial as it contains a good amount of starch, which gives a lot of energy to the body. There will be no problem of weakness and blood pressure by consuming it during fasting.

Kuttu Atta
Food made from Kuttu Atta (buckwheat flour) is a gluten-free powerhouse with high protein and fiber, while water chestnut flour is low in calories, rich in potassium and antioxidants.

Dry Fruits
Devotees are advised to eat dry fruits during the fast. Consuming cashews, almonds and raisins keeps the stomach full for a long time. They keep you energetic during Navratri fasting. Along with this, nutrients will also be available by consuming them and energy will also remain.

Samak Chawal
Dishes made from Samak Chawal are very light and nutritious. According to health experts, Samak Chawal provides a high amount of fiber as compared to other grains, which helps in healthy digestion and keeping the stomach full for a long time during Navratri Chaitra Vrat.

Vrat Khakhra
Vrat Khakhra can be eaten on any day during fasting or especially during Navratri. These khakra’s made from Moraiyo / Bhagar / Water chestnut flour, Sabudana have been used in it.

Sabudana Mixture Chiwda
Sabudana (Sago) is one such ingredient, which is eaten a lot during Chaitra Navratri. Khichdi, Namkeen and many other dishes are made from Chivda and eaten.

Drink water to stay hydrated during fasting
It is summer and fasting on an empty stomach can lead to dehydration. Therefore, it is important to provide an adequate amount of water to the body. To keep the body hydrated during fasting, drink at least 8 glasses of water throughout the day.

You can consume these above-mentioned food items and any fruits to avoid weakness during Navratri fasting. By consuming it you will not feel weak and you will remain energetic throughout the day.
