Spiritual and Musical Contributions of Sri Tyagaraja
❀ Tyagaraja composed thousands of devotional songs called kritis, though only around 700 are available today.
❀ Most of his compositions are in Telugu.
❀ His songs express bhakti (devotion), spiritual wisdom, morality, and surrender to God.
❀ He considered music a path to attain divine realization rather than fame or wealth.

The five celebrated “Pancharatna Kritis” are considered masterpieces of Carnatic music and are sung collectively during the annual Tyagaraja Aradhana festival. Thousands of musicians gather to sing his compositions together, especially the Pancharatna Kritis. Read about Thyagaraja Temple Tiruvarur.
