Vyasachala Mahadevendra Saraswati was the 54th pontiff of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, serving from 1498 to 1507 CE. He was initiated into sanyasa by his guru, Purnananda Sadasivendra Saraswati. His tenure as the head of the matha lasted 9 years, during which he delivered lectures on the Brahmasutra Bhashya 21 times.

Vyasachala Mahadevendra Saraswati was a revered tapasvi, deeply engaged in Shiva worship and adorned with sacred vibhuti. He attained videha mukti at Vyasachala on the first day of the dark fortnight of Ashada in the cyclic year Akshaya (1507 CE). His jeeva samadhi is located at the Sri Nallinaikeshwarar Temple in Ezhichur, approximately 55 km from Chennai.

The temple is notable for its Surya Pushkarani, a sacred pond believed to have been created by Bhagwan Surya for worshipping Lord Nallinakeshwarar. Devotees believe that seven Siddhas worship the Shiva Linga in the form of snakes, and those with deep devotion may have the fortune of witnessing them. The sacred vibhuti associated with the acharya is considered powerful, and it is recommended to chant the Panchakshara Mantra with devotion to experience his presence.

Following his mukti, the pontificate was succeeded by Chandrachudendra Saraswati II. Vyasachala Mahadevendra Saraswati is also credited with authoring the "Vyasachala Sankara Vijaya," a work that chronicles the life and teachings of Adi Shankaracharya.
