Shri Dasji (श्रीदासजी)

Bhaktamal | Ahilyabai Holkar
Aradhya - Shri Thakur Ji / Shri Krishna
Famous - Sant Sewa
Bhaktamal Katha
You considered serving saints to be more important than serving God. Once, several saints visited you. The evening aarti was held. After dinner, you devoted yourself to serving the saints' feet. You forgot to put Shri Thakurji to sleep in the temple. When you went to the temple during the morning Mangala Puja, you found the doors locked from inside. Despite your efforts, they wouldn't open. You were then deeply perplexed. Just then, a voice from heaven said, "The doors will not open now. Stop serving me; serve the saints only. I have stood on the throne all night, and you did not let me sleep."

Hearing this, Shri Dasji requested the Bhagwan with a simple heart - Bhagwan! If I have made any mistake in serving you due to devoting time to serving the saints, then I have no fear of your getting angry. But if I continue to serve you and make a mistake in serving the saints, I am extremely afraid of your displeasure. Upon hearing this, the Bhagwan was pleased. The doors opened as before. I am very pleased with you, with this feeling the devotees who serve the saints are dearer to me than myself, and these devotees bring me under their control. Having said this, the Bhagwan appeared before Shri Dasji. In gratitude for this kindness, Dasji fell at the Bhagwan's feet. The Bhagwan lifted him up and embraced him.
