Vallabhacharya was born on the Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Vaishakh month according to the Hindu calendar. For this reason it is celebrated as Vallabhacharya Jayanti.
Importance of Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya Jayanti
Shri Vallabhacharya was born in 1479 AD in a Telugu Brahmin family in Varanasi. Vallabhacharya was a strong follower of Shri Krishna. Like many devotees of God, he also believed in a supreme power and worshiped Shrinath Ji, who is considered a form of Bhagwan Krishna.
It is said that when Vallabhacharya was moving towards north-west India, he observed an unusual phenomenon near Govardhan Mountain, which is associated with Bhagwan Krishna in Hindu mythology. He saw that at a particular place on the mountain a cow was giving milk every day. One day, Vallabhacharya thought of excavating a specific place and in the excavation he found the idol of Bhagwan Krishna. It is said that the Bhagwan appeared before the saint and embraced him for his dedication. From that day the 'Bala' or young image of Bhagwan Krishna started being worshiped with great devotion by the Pushti sect.
