He has recorded songs in multiple languages and won numerous awards, including the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer. He had sung in more than 20 Indian languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Oriya, Bengali, Sindhi, Bhojpuri, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi etc..

Kher began singing at a young age and received training in classical music. He formed his first band, Kailasa, in 1996. Kher has released several successful albums and performed at concerts and festivals worldwide.
