It is believed that Satyuga started from this day.

From this day Bhagwan Jagannath’s Rath build work starts. It is written in the Puranas that the tarpan and pind daan offered to the ancestors on this day is very fruitful.

On this day, things like marriage, house-entry, purchase of clothes or jewelry or purchase of house, plots, vehicles, etc. can be done. On this day, all sins are destroyed by bathing the Ganges and worshiping Bhagwan.
