Bhaktmal Katha
Devotee Shri Gopalji, a resident of Jobner village, had vowed to deify his devotees more than God, and he followed his vow. A gentleman in his family, Kakaji, had become a detached Vaishnav. He heard the praise of his devotion from the mouth of saints that he considers his devotees as his Ishtadev. Then Kakaji came to Shri Gopal ji's door with the intention of testing him.

Seeing him coming, Shri Gopal Bhaktji immediately came and prostrated before him with love - Lord! Please come to your own home.

He replied (testingly), "I have vowed not to look at a woman's face. How can I break this vow after entering your house?"

Then Shri Gopal Ji said, "Don't give up your promise. All the women will hide in a separate house. None of them will come in front of you." Saying this, he went home and hid all the women. After this, Ji took the saint home. Meanwhile, either with the intention of seeing the saint or out of curiosity, a woman peeped in and as soon as the woman peeped in, he slapped Gopal devotee on the cheek.

Shri Gopal Ji did not feel any pain in his heart and said with folded hands, "Maharaj Ji! You gave the Prasad of slap to a cheek; it has been fulfilled." But the other one has been deprived of your grace. Therefore, that other cheek is becoming angry. Please slap this cheek as well and grant it your blessing.

Hearing these sweet words, the Vaishnava saint's eyes filled with tears. He fell at Shri Gopal's feet and said, "Your devotion to saints is extraordinary." I came and tested you. Today I learned a great lesson from you: a devotee should be extremely tolerant and should consider Vaishnavas greater than even God.
