Chaitra Maas 2024 (चैत्र मास 2024)

Chaitra maas, the first month of the Hindu calendar, which marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year. Being the first month of the Hindu year, Chaitra has great importance. The full moon of Chaitra month is in Chitra Nakshatra, hence the name of the month is Chaitra. The month of Chaitra falls in March or April.
In Tamilnadu it is known as Chithirai, In Sindhi it’s Chet and is marked by the celebration of Cheti Chand (the birth of Jhulelal).

Importance of Chaitra Maas
According to mythological beliefs, on this month's Pratipada, the first incarnation of Bhagwan Vishnu's Dashavatars, Matsyavatar incarnated and brought Manu surrounded by deluge to a safe place, from which the new creation started after the deluge. It is believed that Brahma Dev, the creator of the universe, started the creation of the universe from Shukla Pratipada of the month of Chaitra. At the same time, the beginning of Satyug also goes from the month of Chaitra.

Chaitra Maas Festival
Chaitra month has special significance in Hinduism. Because Holi, Bhai Dooj, Yugadi, Gudi Padwa, Chaitra Navratri, Ram Navami, Hanuman Jayanti, Gangaur falls in this month. On the first day of the month of Chaitra, congratulate everyone for the new year. Then from the beginning of this month do Jal daan for four months.
