Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, popularly known as Veer Savarkar, was an Indian freedom fighter, nationalist thinker, social reformer, poet, and writer. As per Bhaktibharat, he is regarded as one of the most influential figures in modern Indian history.

❀ Savarkar founded the revolutionary organisation Abhinav Bharat Society and was associated with India House, London, where he inspired young revolutionaries.
❀ He was sentenced to two life terms (50 years) in the Cellular Jail, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, where he endured harsh conditions.
❀ He advocated for abolition of untouchability, intercaste dining, and modern scientific thinking.
❀ He later became president of the Hindu Mahasabha and was a strong proponent of cultural nationalism.
